12.30pm – Documentary Shorts 2
Modern Godiva (Directed by Oana Catalina Necsulescu) Modern Godiva is a film about social justice and women in Arts. The film presents recurring themes in history that we are still struggling with today.
All the women in the film work within organisations that support people who experienced homelessness and mental health problems, particulartly in the arts sector.
Gary Kemp – in Solo (Directed by Charlie Lightening) An intimate portrait documentary of Spandau Ballet’s Gary Kemp which explores an artist’s journey towards making a solo album.
The Station (Directed by Adelaida Monguillot, Ana Rivadulla Crespo) Short film based on the poem Waterloo Station and artwork by Andrew Johnston Davies. In a year in which we ironically travel less than ever, The Station portrays the daily commute of thousands of people to and from Central London.
Occupying East Ham Library (Directed by Dean Cooper) John Passmore Edwards Library in East Ham was built for the poor by Victorian philanthropist John Passmore Edwards, left empty by Newham Council it’s now occupied by a group of squatters.
Riot in the Meadow (Directed by Thomas Harman) A short documentary about the life of artist Vicky Hawkins narrated by Roberta Taylor.
2.30pm – Long Shorts
Hollow (Directed by Paul Holbrook) Hollow is a dark, revenge thriller exploring the moral and religious intricacies surrounding the concept of revenge and redemption.
Divertimento (Directed by Keyvan Sheikhalishahi) Jonas Olsen (Kellan Lutz), a chess player haunted by a tragic past, is given an opportunity to participate in a mysterious game, Divertimento.
All that Glitters (Directed by Dan Bronzite) A desperate teenager snatches a rich woman’s handbag but in a bizarre twist of fate discovers her life is not as rosy as it seems and that they have more in common than he realizes.
The Immortal (Directed by Nikolay Dimitrov Urumov) Apprentice psychiatrist Dr. Pavel Hristov (33) has recurrent dreams of his patient Lazar (50). The latter tries to convince him he is his father, that Pavel is an Immortal and has to embrace his fate: kill Lazar and take his place.
4.30pm – Shorts 3
Shed (Directed by Angie Piera & Charlie Hedger) A long time ago, Dave promised to fix up the small dilapidated shed that stands at the back of his miniscule garden. When he finally decides to get to work, he enlists the help of his 10 year old son. It’s an opportunity for a lesson in DIY and a reflection on past mistakes.
Sed Libera Nos A Maro (Directed by Jack Salvadori) This short is about persistence.
The Church has adapted to the new security norms in the Covid-era, without renouncing its rituals.
Out of Orbit (Directed by Jess Kay & Dann Emmons) When Esme’s mum dies, her world falls apart. She struggles to navigate her day to day life until she gets an idea, fuelled by their mutual love of space, which may lead to the relief she so longs for.
Standing Woman (Directed by Tony Hipwell) “Standing Woman” is a dystopian drama with flourishes of body horror that depicts a near future where an authoritarian government turns those it deems criminals into trees as part of an insidious environmental campaign.
Haaman (Directed by Laure ZIGLIANI)
Vacuum (directed by Oliver Hamill) Struggling to deal with the loss of his mother, an isolated man revisits her home to sell her old possessions. When the buyer arrives, the two end up discussing death and losing loved ones.
Vigilante (Directed by Soroush Hosseini) A frustrated citizen catfishes certain individuals who the police have failed to prosecute.
6.30pm – Shorts 4
Limelight (Directed by David Martin Dawson) Dealing with grief after the loss of his wife, Tom, a theatre worker looks to find a way to move on from the heartache and emptiness. Will the Theatre save him and bring light and warmth back into his life?
Flotsom (Directed by Patch Harvey) In a UK where all foreigners are outlaws, a warm-hearted farmer discovers the unconscious body of a French man on the beach, and shelters him despite her husband’s violent nationalism.
The Abyss of the Soul (Directed by Guilherme Daniel) A father is hypnotised in his death bed with his own method, and suspended between life, death and dream.
Byte (Directed by Ross McGowan) A modern fairytale by the name of Byte, an original short film which is quite a sight! A story in rhyme that will give you a lift, when our sad, shallow man receives a strange gift.
Lessons (Directed by Sam Seccombe) The morning after a one night stand, Dan and Tommy engage in an interesting and unexpected conversation about relationships, sexuality and themselves.
Escape (Directed by Kim Hong) After an accident in the forest, 12-year-old Jakob loses his younger sister Clara. The mood within the family deteriorates and he flees into the forest.
Suit & Bone (Directed by Dulani Wilson) A callous and brazen gambler enters a holy place, risking all to obtain a great power. Cards and dice may be familiar tools of his vice, but they are also called “The Devil’s Playthings” and “The Devil’s Bones” for a reason.
8.30pm – Shorts 5
Bray- A Reminder (Directed by Rita-Marie Lawlor) A short film set in Bray Ireland. A reminiscing and poignant piece focusing on grief and despair with one woman’s life that will never be the same again.
Wormhole in the Washer (Directed by Paireac Keane) When his socks go missing in the wash, a struggling science-fiction writer discovers a portal to a parallel universe in his washing machine where he meets a better version of himself; or so it seems.
Stay with Me (Directed by Mark Owen) A woman wakes up helpless in a dark room, terrified to learn she is receiving intense pain from someone unknown to her. Where is she? Who is torturing her and why? Seemingly unable to escape her situation, something unexpected happens.
Myrtle (Directed by Patricia McCormack) Myrtle, a trailer park Mom from Indiana, cooks dinner for her son. But something’s not quite right. This kitchen is anonymous, industrial, and Myrtle’s working to a deadline. As her composure unravels, we realize that 21 grams is all that separates life from death.
Ajotin (Directed by Muhammed Seyyid Yildiz) An illegal Kurdish refugee borrows the car of his dreams for a joyride around London. Freedom starts to get blurry when a series of misfortunes comes his way, leading him to make a fateful decision.
Run Rabbit (Lara Angelina) THIS IS WHAT IT FEELS LIKE – a short film showing how it is to feel suicidal
Lucid (Directed by Stephen Maddox) Aaro, stuck in a loop, fights to solve which is the dream and which the reality, leading him to question everything. Living the dream. Can’t wait to wake up.
