A family moves up from floor to floor – running away from a horrifying noise. The further up they move, the fewer possessions they have. What is the noise? And what is the schmürz, that they beat so savagely?

Written in France during the Algerian War, this absurdist tragi-comedy exposes our society’s double-think and hypocrisy.
