As Abeni awakes one morning from restless dreams, she finds herself transformed in her bed into a monstrous, verminous insect-like creature.
This story is based on Frank Kafka’s classic but this is a production full of twists, turns, magic, music and a message for us all.
This adaptation, devised and directed by Nick Pelas, relocates events to a Yoruba village in Nigeria and features an all-female cast, though the familiar beats of Kafka’s tale remain the same, a very careful, intelligently judged re-imagining.
