Rainbow Umbrella Film Festival 2023: Day Three

Rainbow Umbrella Film Festival is run by filmmakers and aims to celebrate the very best in indie and encourage all aspects of independent LGBTQI+ film making.

Day Three:

ORANGE PEEL (Directed by Alex Rolph) Orange Peel is a short drama following Andy and his son Josh, a young footballer on the verge of signing his first professional contract when he is dropped for being gay. The relationship must grow as the pair learn to communicate and live with the changes in their lives.

AFFIRMATION (Directed by Emmet McMullan) A Priest is surprised when his illegitimate son turns up in confession seeking answers.

THE EXTRAVAGANT ILLNESSES (Directed by Raphaël Deslandes) At 17 years old, Louis is a romantic boy, loving to spend time on a small island lost in the middle of a pond with his lover Thibault. But Thibault has also a relationship with Sophie. So for him to be all his own, Louis casts a love spell on Thibault. When electricity shuts down during a party, Louis believes that it’s the sign his spell worked. But things don’t turn out the way he hoped for.

EVENING RITUAL (Directed by Nanna Hauge Kristensen, Ruth Storm) ‘Evening Ritual’ depicts the love relationship between two elderly men and the distance they must cope with after one has moved to a nursing home.

THE STRANGER (Directed by Phoenix K M Frost) A family drama short film about a transgender man’s relationship with his grandfather as he succumbs to dementia.
