Come and take a peep into the darkest corners of Desmond’s mind: a misanthropic, 50 year old, washed-out cabaret artist. Expect the uncanny, the absurd and the just plain weird as we explore the varying characters of Desmond’s psyche in what can only be described as a coming of age story with a reveal party… or two.
Brought to you by Packet of Crisps Theatre, ‘HORSEPOWER’ is the world premier of a one-person show performed and written by Harriet Gandy and directed by Isabelle Woolley. Inspired by the character of Destructive Desmond in W.H.Auden’s ‘The Dog Beneath the Skin’, ‘HORSEPOWER’ explores the performances we play in society and what happens when the mask begins to slip. This is a story of identity crisis, gender conformity, toxic masculinity and addiction.
