Description:

Hemma

London premiere

Four outsiders of three generations band together in this delicate and funny paean to non-conformism.

Lou is a super bright young woman, but socially awkward and introverted. Led to believe that her maternal grandparents are long departed, she is shocked to discover her grandfather has recently died and that her grandmother is still alive.

She sets off to meet her mischievous grandmother, Frida, who insists Lou stay with her. Frida invites another misfit into her household: 10-year-old Tom. Tom welcomes the chance to spend time away from both his home and his bullying classmates.

Lou reluctantly gets drawn into a friendship with secondhand bookseller Henrik.

She is forced to accept that she can be liked, express her own will and determine for herself what home really is.

A comedy of great charm and warmth. Hemma has played at dozens of international festivals, picking up accolades and awards across the world. We are delighted to present the first London screening.
